Still don't have a website? do not get left behind

Web Design at Centurion Solutions

Websites are nothing new, and it’s easier to make one than ever before, whether for personal use or business. The purposes of websites are so multi-faceted now that there isn’t much a well orientated website cannot accomplish. But why do we still see some companies without a website, even companies that have scale?

Much of the business here at Centurion Solutions is bringing businesses online for the first time, but we still come across businesses who reject the online presence available to them. Some reasons include apathy, the choice to be uninterested in investing in a website, or simply not wanting the responsibility. Business owners who may be stuck in the belief that websites are expensive, and a drain on funds, but possibly the biggest reason that people who have working businesses choose not to have a website is simply that they don’t believe their product needs it, or it doesn’t compliment their business, also the bane of all misinformed owners is the ‘I know my market, and my customers are local and know me’ disposition, which for the record is the same as taking at least £60-£100 every week, taping it to a wild bird and expecting to see it in your pocket some point down the line. It’s a shot in the foot, by your own hand. If you think, I’m sure any reader can identify a local establishment that doesn’t have a website but still, to the eye, makes decent money and then vice versa a company that may not seem like it has a lot of attention, but has a professional website with evidence of a lot of activity – and I’m sure you can identify two examples like these local to you.

The establishment that has online attention most likely has an online presence as well, they probably produce informative content that helps their consumers out and publicly display it, there is also a chance they give sneak peaks of new products on their Facebook page and Instagram while using their home page as a large call-to-action, this organisation probably once didn’t have a website either, but they have shifted a large or possibly all their business to online retailing. The other company is missing out on this, for any of the reasons above and being left behind.

The solid truth of the matter is that websites are no longer optional. Websites are somewhat the conduit for a business, in times of achievement the website is usually the first to be updated also in times of crisis, the website is the place that shows the actions that are to be taken. This alone should prove enough value to invest in a website, but there are other significant factors as well.

Speaking to the business owner that does not have a website now that may be reading this, If you can have an unbiased opinion for a moment and think that your product or service is incredible and that you yourself would rate it 5/5 and would use it if it were not your business, then you should get a website right away, because there are others just like you who want to give your business a 5, and support your cause, and this builds up your credibility with the very people you are hoping will invest in your business.

Trust is a big factor in today’s buying behaviour, how many times have you made a purchase without either a quick check on the products credibility or on the product itself? Consumers build trust and loyalty from purchases made over time, or superior customer service. A customer will be much more loyal if they purchased something from your website, and requested a change thereafter via online form and you [the business owner] fix it quickly and respond back, other than them having to come instore after arriving home and realizing their product isn’t as they wished.

The last two points I would consider the most important for me as a business owner of a service orientated company. The first is versatility, which is the aspect of both utilizing brick-and-mortar sales and online sales, giving you a second financial channel to harvest from, and in many cases online sales are easier, as they save a lot of time in lead tending and consultation time, and as many start-up owners and SME business owners know, your time is of value. Lastly is Communication, integrating your social media with your website and with each other is possibly the easiest thing to do now, most of it is done for you, and if you think you are a business ‘that doesn’t need websites’ and you have your 100 customers, maybe 15 of which are regular, consider this, whatever you do with an integrated social media that’s connected to your website you will be reaching at least 2,000 people, drawing at least 3% of that to your site, increase that by 7% if you use the likes of content marketing, this isn’t even including SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Not to mention it’s a nice way to broadcast messages to your customers to grow rapport.

Other factors that may change minds is that 96% of small businesses that optimized their websites for mobile devices saw an increase in sales, And 89% of small businesses agreed with the statements ‘An online presence is detrimental to reaching profitable customers’ also 74% of small businesses who is pushing sales and increasing revenue have employed an individual and/or company to manage their online presence and website
